AoC Sport Introducing campaign: Lacrosse
We are pleased to introduce Lacrosse as part of the AoC Sport Introducing campaign with dedicated information for colleges on how to get staff and students involved.
Lacrosse, is a modern version of the North American Indian game of baggataway, in which two teams of players use long-handled, racket like implements (crosses) to catch, carry, or throw a ball down the field or into the opponents’ goal.
Teams usually have 10 players: the goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders (one of whom is the centre), and three attackers. There are two officials, a referee and a judge
How colleges can get involved
England Lacrosse runs a Lacrosse Accredited Colleges Scheme (LACS) in Further Education institutions across England. The scheme aims to bring lacrosse to the FE sector through a coordinated and sustainable programme to increase regular participation within the 16-18 age group.
Member colleges receive training from England Lacrosse to assist in delivery of the sport, in-person CPD, and additional learning opportunities for identified students through a Student Ambassador initiative designed to give young adults leadership skills in addition to supporting practical delivery of lacrosse.
