- Head of Faculty - Land Based
Head of Faculty - Land Based
Salary: Salary range: £58,647- £64,721 with potential additional flexibility based on skills and experience. Relocation package available
Organisation: Abingdon and Witney College
Location: Witney, Oxfordshire
Closing Date: 22 Jun 2025
About Us:
Abingdon and Witney College is an award-winning education and skills provider in Oxfordshire, recognised for our excellence in both Further and Higher Education. Over the past few years, we have experienced significant growth, with our income increasing by over 13%. Our achievements include being named Hays Employer of the Year, Pearson BTEC College of the Year, and receiving a Beacon Award. We have invested in state-of-the-art facilities and fostered an innovative, inclusive, and supportive culture to ensure that we achieve our vision of being a college where everyone exceeds their potential.
The Role:
Due to the progression of our current post holder, we are seeking a new Head of Faculty for our prestigious Land-Based provision. This unique role offers significant influence and a broad scope of opportunity, overseeing our entire land-based offer and serving as the most senior post holder at our farm campus.
Our Campus:
Common Leys Farm Campus, regularly maintained by our Farm Manager is set in over 60 acres of picturesque countryside just north of Witney. The campus offers a wide range of specialised courses focusing on land-based industries, including 16-18 Study Programmes, T Levels, Adult Education, and Higher Education programmes. The campus is home to an impressive group of animals providing facilities for canine therapy, and breeding programmes including Thoroughbred horses, allowing students to have exceptional hands-on development experiences. Our impactful HE courses are run in partnership with Oxford Brookes University, and we maintain strong affiliations with key sector stakeholders, enhancing both our curriculum and farm operations.
The campus has significantly benefited from recent investments, which have enhanced our facilities, including a state-of-the-art IT suite, modern classrooms, and a new laboratory
Key Responsibilities:
As the Head of Faculty, you will provide strategic direction and overall leadership to the land-based faculty, ensuring that our provision is innovative, relevant, and responsive to the needs of students, employers, and the wider community. You will maintain the highest possible quality and outcomes while having strategic and operational responsibility for the campus and farm operations. This role offers ample opportunity to bring your own ideas, lead new initiatives, develop and diversify our offer, and further establish a high profile in the region.
About You:
We are looking for a motivational leader with experience in a land-based curriculum area and up-to-date knowledge of educational development within this specialism. A proven track record of delivering high-quality teaching and positive outcomes, along with a commitment to student success and progression, is essential. You should have the ability to develop and inspire staff, provide clear direction, and embed a positive, aspirational culture.
If this opportunity excites you, we would love you to discuss it further with Bernie Cullen, our retained consultant. There will also be an opportunity to have a further conversation about it with the Vice Principal of Curriculum & Quality. We warmly invite you to apply.
