Leading an English and maths team workshop

Tuesday 17 September 2019 | Manchester

Colleges are struggling to secure GCSE English and maths grade C, but is this any surprise when students have likely struggled for 11 years at school and are now required to pass in just 36 weeks?

This is an enormous challenge, going beyond the English and maths classroom, requiring a whole college approach to behaviour, attendance and a culture of these key skills being everybody’s priority.

This workshop is specifically designed for FE leaders and managers responsible for cross-college English and maths provision and explores ways of maximising the potential of disaffected students who are re-sitting GCSE English and maths, or studying Functional Skills in English and maths, achieving a grade C or 5.

GDPR in FE a Year On: An AOC Best Practice Workshop

Wednesday 16 October 2019 | London

Since the introduction of GDPR in May 2018, the way in which personal data should be handled has changed.  Many organisations are still trying to get to grips with the new legislation and how it should be applied in an educational setting.

Many organisations are still struggling to get to grips with the requirements of GDPR and are unaware of the exemptions to it made in the Data Protection Act 2018.  Internal Audits are beginning to ask searching questions as to how data is managed and are seeking assurances that this is in accordance with the new legislation.

This workshop will provide you with the current best practice and foundational knowledge necessary for your organisation to avoid costly errors and stay safe in what can be a data minefield whilst also considering what has happened since GDPR came into force.
