The 5R's Approach to GCSE Maths Resits

AoC is working with the Education Endowment Foundation on a project called the ‘5Rs Approach to GCSE Maths resits’. The project aims to conduct trials using manualised intervention methods to support students re-sitting their maths GCSEs to improve their attainment.

We are looking for 80 post-16 providers to take part in the trials. Trials consist of teachers receiving an initial training day which outlines the method followed by two catch up days in each of the following term. Students will also have access to a suite of online resources.

For more information about the project, eligibility and applying to take part, please visit the AoC website or email

College HE Research and Scholarship Conferences

AoC will be holding two annual HE Research and Scholarship Conferences, in partnership with Newcastle College University Centre and Morley College.

Anyone with an interest in college higher education (HE) is welcome to attend. The conferences will aim to bring together a range of professionals with a stake in college higher education, including teachers, researchers, managers and students. For the first time this year, they will be free to attend.

Advantages of attending the conference

  • You will be informed of the latest research and developments in the field of college higher education
  • You will be able to participate in discussions at the forefront of developments in the sector
