Taster Morning For Further Forces Programme
In partnership with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, Further Forces Programme is a scheme to retrain Armed Forces Service Leavers to teach technical subjects, including Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) in the further education (FE) and skills sector. This event will take place on Wednesday 26 June in East Sussex and will give introduction into the Further Forces Programme.
Providing information about life at a FE college and see how different it is to school. Meet some of the students and teachers. Discover how Further Forces helps the transition from Military to teaching: the programme is fully funded so does not cost a prospective trainee or the Military anything; trainees will get Level 5 teacher training and support in finding a teaching post in FE.
There will also be an opportunity to meet and speak with some mentors, try your hand at some practical skills that give a feel for teaching and ask any questions about the programme.
The programme is aimed at Armed Forces personnel - Service leavers due to leave the Armed Forces in the next two years and Service Leavers that have left in the last five years.

Management Practices in FE and Sixth Form Colleges
The Centre for Vocational Education Research (CVER), London School of Economics are undertaking research into management practices in the FE sector, funded by the Department for Education. They are keen to interview principals and deputy principals from FE and sixth form colleges (SFC) in England to understand how the management of FE and SFC varies across the country and how they relate to college performance.
If you are interested in contributing to this major piece of research that will shape policy decision-making and management practices in years to come, please email the projects team for more information or to arrange an interview.
