Firstly, thank you to everyone for the enthusiasm that has marked Colleges Week this year. There has been a fantastic range of activities across the country, as well as from colleges in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
It is always exciting to see staff, students, leaders, MP and partners all talking with pride and passion about why they #LoveOurColleges.
Please don’t forget to get as many pledge cards signed as you can. I’ve said many times just how important it is that we continue to promote colleges positively, and keep our profile high and that is exactly what has happened this week.
Below are the pledge cards, an information sheet and a photo card:
Throughout the week there has been lots of activity on social media. If you haven't had a chance and want to share in the stories about why colleges have/are so important to so many people - check out the hashtag on Twitter - here.
Budget announced for 6 November
At the beginnng of Colleges Week, the Chancellor announced that he will present a Budget to Parliament on Wednesday 6 November. We will continue to push for more funding, particularly for adult education, apprenticeships and capital, but there is very little time.
We will be meeting Treasury officials next week, after which we might be able to gauge what type of Budget it will be.
