TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF?

I am really passionate about my interests, I had the opportunity to interview Richard Tucker (Police Officer), about Black Lives Matter movements and question him about how stop and search impact young people in Newham and how Year 13 have been impacted by COVID-19. I take the extra step into really doing what I love, I am determined, and don't let set-back get in my way.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO DO NEXT?

I just found out that I've been made an offer from Goldsmiths University of London to study History and Journalism. I would like to be an investigative journalist, I want to write about things that will impact people's lives and those who don't have a voice. To be the voice of people who do not have the privilege of free media, how political issues are affecting certain groups, even third world countries, and how they are suffering because of first world interference. A lot of issues are shaped by historical times and I do not want to be constricted in what I write about.

HOW WILL YOUR COURSE/QUALIFICATION HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE?

This shows that my hard work has really paid off, especially during COVID 19. Personally I was really discouraged that grades had been downgraded. These grades have confirmed to me that my hard work has been worth the hard work.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS ABOUT NEWVIC AND YOUR COLLEGE EXPERIENCE IN GENERAL?

I'll miss the atmosphere of NewVIc, to me it felt that NewVIc was there for me and cares for me. I'll miss my teachers and students, I've received such tremendous help from staff, it wasn't just my hard work, it was my teachers who supported me, the librarians who gave me my book and the canteen staff who gave me my food. It was a sense of togetherness and they all went through my journey with me, that companionship that helped me feel to succeed. I want to thank all my teachers, they put in hard work for me, and that made me put in the extra work and I am so thankful for all the great opportunities that have come my way.
