    Sharon became Clerk to the Corporation at the newly incorporated Longley Park Sixth Form College in January 2003. She joined the Further Education and Skills Sector in a governance role in 1999, working for organisations such as the Association of Colleges, Learning & Skills Council and The Learning & Skills Partnership. Sharon has predominantly worked in the public sector, with posts in the NHS, Civil Service and Local Government. She first took on a governance role in the social housing sector, where she worked for a decade, before making the move to FE and Skills.

    Bettina Walker

    South West Region

    Prior to joining Somerset College, Bettina worked in the University/HE Sector in a variety of Registry based administrative roles, including student administration (enrolments and exams), Awards Ceremony organisation, degree programme validations and research administration.  She has held the part time post of Clerk to the Corporation at Somerset College since November 1997.   Bettina also helps to run a small property development and letting business jointly owned with her husband. Bettina is a Primary School Governor in the community where she lives.   In 2013 Bettina's passion for live music and her organisational skills were well employed in helping to revive the Stogumber Festival, a three day music and arts festival, in the West Somerset village where she lives, which is now, once again, an established event in the local calendar, attracting both well known classical, jazz and folk/acoustic artists and emerging talent.  This now takes up most of her spare time!

    Jennifer Foote, MBE

    Chair of NCN

    Jennifer has been Company Secretary to the Manchester College Group since September 2013.  Her background is in local authority governance and she has been a clerk in the sector since 2003.  In 2012 she led on the development and delivery of the level 4 clerks’ qualification for LSIS.  She has also spoken at a number of conferences on governance issues and has contributed to LSIS publications on the role of the clerk.

    Atholl Stott

    Governors Council Representative

    Atholl Stott is a Senior Executive and N.E.D with a depth of experience, in organisations ranging from financial services and the voluntary sector to traditional unionised heavy industry. He is Chairman of North Nottinghamshire College, Action Housing Support and Homes for You ltd. Managing Director of a property investment and development company, an AoC Board member, Vice Chair of the AoC Governors Council and a National Leader in Governance for the Association of Colleges.  He was Chief Executive of a regional third sector organisation, an LSC board member and an EMDA business champion for eight years. His career started with the National Coal Board in 1979, progressing from the coal face to Divisional Human Resources Director.  He then held a number of Senior HR positions in national and international companies including global insurance company AON. Atholl lives in Yorkshire and is married with three daughters and two granddaughters.

    Eleanor Lewis

    Sixth Form College Co-opted Representative (01.01.11 to 01.01.14)

    Eleanor Lewis is Clerk to the Governors at St Francis Xavier 6th Form College. SFX is a Catholic Inner City SFC in South London with a full time student roll of 1350. Eleanor is qualified with the ICSA Certificate in FE Governance. She is a founder member of the SFCA Governance Policy Committee and has been the committee’s nominated co-opted member of the National Clerks’ Network National Committee since January 2011. Eleanor is employed full time at SFX and has a number of support roles including responsibility for the adult education programme and other income generation initiatives.

    Sheila Selwood

    Sheila Selwood is an independent Governance Advisor, supporting governance both in colleges and through a variety of agencies, and was formerly the Director of Governance of West Herts College and their sponsored academy, Francis Combe Academy. After working in both newspaper and computer industries Sheila joined the education sector in 1988, working within primary and secondary schools, with responsibilities for financial and administrative management, as well as governance, before joining FE in 2004., Sheila also worked with LSIS as an Associate on their Leadership Skills for Governance programme, including delivery of Governance Inductions and workshops, writing training materials, and providing intervention support for college governance. Sheila is currently the Co-opted Clerk member of the AoC Governors' Council.
