The Labour Market Observatory, led by the Association of Colleges and sponsored by NCFE, will collate and develop data sets to present in digestible reports, based on regions and key sectors. It is made up of experts in economics and leaders in skills, working in collaboration with education and training providers. We are aiming to inform recovery and growth strategies by providing local authorities, LEPs and colleges with timely information and analysis of new and future employment trends to support their skills planning.
There is a wealth of data being released on employment trends and job market insights and the Labour Market Observatory will bring this together, with newly commissioned work to provide analysis to help decision makers ensure that education and training support people into the jobs that will be available. Doing this will help to reduce unemployment and support the country to build back better.
Organisations involved include: Association of Colleges, Department for Education, EMSI, London School of Economics, NCFE, Nesta, OECD, Resolution Foundation, Learning and Work Institute, Education Policy Institute, Centre for Vocational Education and Research, and the University of Derby.
- Host regular online forums with experts to analyse the collated data and facilitate meaningful conversations on topical subjects, including Health and Social Care
- Disseminate findings to national and local government, LEPs, unions, the education sector and those involved in skills planning
- Work to secure press coverage of important matters arising
