The "Empowering Students for a Low Carbon Construction Industry" webinar will showcase evidence-based approaches that can be replicated across the further education sector, providing a blueprint for integrating sustainable construction skills into mainstream vocational training programmes, whilst addressing social inclusion and economic development priorities simultaneously.

Funded by JPMorgan Chase, this pioneering programme represented a groundbreaking approach when addressing London's critical need for a skilled, environmentally conscious construction workforce. The initiative strategically targeted young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds across Greater London, providing them with essential eco-friendly construction skills and pathways into the rapidly expanding green economy.

Two pilot colleges delivered innovative training programmes: South Thames College Group and London Southeast Colleges.

South Thames College will share the impact of the project.

Young people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds gained access to high-quality sustainable construction skills training, creating pathways to well-paying careers in the green sector.

The external independent evaluator (Chrysalis Research) will highlight how this programme is a scalable model for embedding green skills training, fostering inclusive access to the green economy, and contributing meaningfully to the government’s sustainable development goals.
