Digital transformation has impacted across CAVC through several initiatives including Technology Enhanced Learning Journeys for all staff, student digital leaders, blended learning and embedding TEL into college processes.
TEL journeys help staff self-evaluate development needs and map these to Microsoft Certification and CAVC badges to gamify the CPD process. Our blended learning and eTutorial is tracked in Moodle, using Blended Learning Consortium content. Digital leaders deliver Digital Competency Framework linked training to staff and learners in our Makerspace.
Consequently, staff are using TEL in a more appropriate way that is having a positive impact on teaching and learning. Learners have greater access to new technologies enabling them to develop skills for future employment. Furthermore, our student digital leaders are developing additional skills by taking ownership of the group.
Staff and digital leaders will be supporting the development of digital capability through the completion of staff TEL journeys and through workshops and drop-ins across all departments. This will improve the use of TEL in teaching and learning, and develop learners’ digital skills.
Embedding TEL throughout college processes and promoting a safe place to fail, we are changing staff culture and developing digital skills for the future.
