Safer Parks Project

A case study by West Thames College.

In September 2025, West Thames College launched its first-ever Youth Social Action Project (YSA) in collaboration with Pears & AoC.

A group of 5 students all studying vocational courses at Feltham Skills campus signed up to the project. Through a series of listening and house meetings the students thought about and discussed issues that they felt were important to them in the local community. The project’s theme
was then decided on unanimously and was agreed would focused on improving community safety in local parks. Sparked by student concerns around the safety and accessibility of outdoor spaces—particularly Hanworth Airpark and Lampton Park; the project aimed to raise awareness, gather community insight, and influence real change in collaboration with local organisations.
