British Council international award - Lancaster & Morecambe College Case Study

Lancaster & Morecambe College have participated in International activities for two decades. From leading sports and leadership camps in Bulgaria and Slovakia, zoo-keeper internships in Poland to Hospitality, Tourism & Business visits to Italy, we strive to offer the best opportunities for staff and students and weave an international outlook throughout the college.

The impact on students varies; a few are offered employment as a result of their international work experience, some develop their technical or work based skills, whilst most enhance their social and soft skills. However, without exception, all return with a new perspective, fresh energy and the realisation that they have limitless opportunities if they grasp the chance.

Our international strategy determines our future focus and priorities, involvement of key local organisations and employers, plus buy-in at management level. Currently, long term Erasmus+ volunteers from overseas are working across the college, not simply for their benefit, but also to expose our students to people from diverse backgrounds.

By sharing the positive experiences of participation in Erasmus+ and other international initiatives, we want our students to reflect on their own achievements and experiences and expand their horizons as well as to motivate others to get involved and go further.
