AoC Mental Health and Wellbeing Award - Reaseheath Case Study

Reaseheath College has invested significant resources into developing a Health and Wellbeing department that provides support for students and staff.

The college employs a team of trained professionals with a wide range of experience in mental health, clinical care and counselling. Wrap around health and wellbeing support is offered to all students and staff which includes; 1:1 appointments, drop-in clinics, self-help materials, and regular promotions in liaison with external specialist agencies.

The strategy and associated initiatives have had a significant impact on students. Student retention rates have risen by over 5% above national average, achievement gaps for high risk groups have diminished, and satisfaction rates have improved, with 99% of students stating they feel safe in college and that the Wellbeing Services has helped them with their studies.

Wellbeing support is accessible to all students and staff.  Focus is placed on upskilling all college staff and empowering students, enabling them to effectively support and signpost themselves or others appropriately. CPD focuses on wellbeing, mental health, resilience and self-care.

The wellbeing of students and staff is a key strategic priority for Reaseheath College; raising awareness, prevention and intervention are at the heart of the strategy that is having a significant positive impact on student success.
