AoC Mental Health and Wellbeing Award - Bridgend Case Study

Bridgend College is an award winning college whose purpose is to support staff and students to ‘Be all they can be’.

We believe that everyone has talent and the ability to add value, given the right environment, opportunities and support.  We actively embrace and celebrate difference and take time to understand what matters to our students and staff, thereby adopting a person centred approach to health and wellbeing.

We pride ourselves on using holistic, innovative and engaging methods to achieve positive outcomes.  Ensuring our own staff are trained to the highest standards, we also work in partnership with a wide range of health and wellbeing providers to ensure staff and students receive the right support as and when required.

Our person centred approach has proved successful and has resulted in exceptional results for all concerned. We were the highest ranked FE college in ‘The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work for 2017’ and are the highest ranking Welsh educational establishment in Mind’s 'Workplace Well Being Index' (2017). The college has achieved outstanding outcomes in our staff survey, 98% are ‘happy to be working at the college’ and Her Majesty’s Inspectorate in Wales (Estyn) judged the college as ‘excellent’ including an ‘excellent’ judgement for leadership.
