More than 1,000 of the most talented young people from around the world compete during the WorldSkills International Skills Competition to win gold, silver and bronze medals in more than 40 different skills and to be named the ‘Best in the World’ in their chosen skill. The competition also enables competing countries to share best practice in apprenticeships and vocational teaching and is designed to enable top apprentices and learners to build on their skills and showcase their talent to employers.
The finals of the WorldSkills UK Competitions are held at The Skills Show, the UK’s largest skills and career event.
Age and skill eligible competitors who excel in the finals of the WorldSkills UK Competitions 2016 could be selected to compete for a place in Squad UK for WorldSkills Kazan, Russia 2019.
EuroSkills Gothenburg 2016
The latest EuroSkills competition took place in 2016 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The event is the largest skills competition in Europe showcasing vocational training.
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

WorldSkills São Paulo 2015
WorldSkills Sao Paulo took place on 11-16 August 2015. Team UK did exceptionally well securing three gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals which placed them eighth in the world rankings. In total, 24 colleges from across the UK won a medal or a medallion of excellence. This is a great achievement for the entire FE, skills and apprenticeship sector. London hosted the WorldSkills competition in 2011. More than 200,000 people from the UK visited and were inspired by the dedication of the teams taking part in the competition. Visitors were able to have a go at hundreds of new skills, meet top employers and get specialist careers advice.
