Glossary

originally any sort of examination on computer, but it is starting to become more common referring to work submitted and marked by computer and not by hand. This can include essays (there are a number of researches being done comparing the accuracy of work marked by hand as opposed to work marked by software.)

The central concept is learning online, either from software on a computer or accessing materials from the internet, but in general it applies to students learning in a distance learning environment whether they are studying from home, or work, but not in a classroom or lecture setting with other students.
