This can include essays (there are a number of researches being done comparing the accuracy of work marked by hand as opposed to work marked by software.)
The central concept is learning online, either from software on a computer or accessing materials from the internet, but in general it applies to students learning in a distance learning environment whether they are studying from home, or work, but not in a classroom or lecture setting with other students.

Employer Training Pilots. Pilot scheme introduced by the Government in 2002 working directly with employers to tackle basic skills and Level 2 shortcomings. Particular features of the programme are the offer of paid time-off work to employers for releasing their staff for training and the targeting of smaller employers.
