Opportunity for Colleges to offer desk space to London-based businesses during the Olympics

The AoC are working with a company called NearDesk to provide London-based organisations with the opportunity to rent desk space at Colleges across the South East, for their employees during the Olympic period. Rather than securing desk space at other commercial venues, the AoC feels that this is a great opportunity for Colleges to offer this facility to employers.

Companies based in London are looking at new ways to ensure that their staff remain productive throughout this period and whilst some staff will be able to work at home this is not a solution for everyone. The NearDesk solution is to offer a 'work near home' option.

To cater for a more flexible approach, companies are now able to sign up for a NearDesk card, which allows them to reserve a desk on a day to day basis. This also allows more flexibility for the College ie if your College decides to reduce/increase the number of desk spaces available on a particular day then you have the flexibility to do so via the NearDesk website.

The new pricing structure reflects these changes:

• First day desk space use within a College = £24 to the College.
• All other days desk space usage within a College = £40 to the College.
• £10 (one off commission) to a College that recruits a new NearDeak member.

Card readers and cards will be sent to Colleges with instruction during July.
