Sixth Form College Portfolio Group

Sixth Form College Portfolio Group

Sixth Form College members are represented on many of AoC's other Portfolio Groups. The purpose of this Portfolio Group is to provide a forum especially for Sixth Form Colleges, at which can be discussed aspects of policy and practice that may not naturally have a place in the other Groups. Currently, these would be likely to arise from the changes in machinery of Government, Local Authority relationships, Commissioning, Performance Management and indeed the possible changes of status following the election of a new Government. It would also give the opportunity to discuss in more detail any specific implications for Sixth Form Colleges of the matters raised in other Portfolio Groups, such as the 14-19 and Funding Portfolio Group.

Terms of Reference

  1. To discuss and provide advice to AoC on Sixth Form College (SFC) matters associated with Commissioning and Funding, Performance Management and other issues about relationships with Local Authorities.
  2. To contribute to AoC’s work in relation to SFCs on the YPLA Board and other external committees.
  3. To act as a pool from which AoC may draw, particularly at short notice, in finding SFC representatives to attend external consultation events and media requests for comment.
  4. To advise on, and contribute to, the SFC-specific content of AoC Conferences, including the November AGM and Conference.
  5. To act as a resource in AoC’s contribution to supporting the establishment of new SFCs.
  6. To give SFC-specific interpretation of issues arising in other Portfolio Groups where necessary.
  7. To facilitate communication with the AoC Board, and within the AoC Regional committees.
