Despite an improved pay offer by colleges of 3% from 1 October, lecturers' union the UCU, have pledged to continue with planned strike action on 9 June.
Evan Williams, AoC Head of Employment Policy, said;
“The joint trade unions have rejected the pay recommendation made by the AoC. UCU stated at the end of the meeting that they would continue with the planned strike action across London Colleges on Monday 9 June.
The AoC is disappointed with this response as this was a realistic and serious recommendation. Further strike action risks causing disruption to students, despite colleges’ best efforts to prevent this from happening. Employers have therefore formally withdrawn the recommendation.”
