Commenting on the National Audit Office's report on Adult Apprenticeships, published today (Wednesday 1 February), AoC Assistant Chief Executive Julian Gravatt said:
"This is a balanced report from the National Audit Office, which confirms that apprenticeships are valuable for young adults, that the expansion in adult apprenticeships has been well managed, but that action is needed in a number of areas. We agree that there needs to be a shift towards advanced level apprentices, that current provision is too focused on a few popular subjects and that employers need to make a greater financial contribution to the training of their staff."
Note
AoC contributed to evidence collection and analysis in the NAO report and develops arguments about apprenticeships in greater detail in 'Rethinking Apprenticeships', published by IPPR in November 2011.
