What the AoC Governors' Council Does

The AoC Governors Council normally meets four times a year. Central Sussex College 150

The AoC’s Governors’ Council aims to be the central voice and source of guidance and support for Governors in AoC policy developments. The Governors’ Council will lobby and speak on behalf Governors with partners including BIS, DfE, LSIS (formerly QIA and CEL) and the Clerks’ National and Regional Networks. 

The Governors’ Council aims to establish and maintain networks in all the English regions that will engage with and collect the views of Governors in order to inform the AoC policy formulation and action and to provide the means for giving feedback and information to Governors. The regional networks will also look to run events to support and develop the understanding of issues with the FE Sector. 

The AoC has launched a web-based briefing designed specifically for Governors.

The Governors’ Council will undertake consultations, analysis and research projects directly and with partners to promote the role of Governors.
