Governor Registration

Registration for Governors’ Briefings

Since we launched the Governors’ Briefings, many hundreds of Governors have now registered to receive notification of and access to these Briefings directly by email. Their registration also gives them full electronic access to all information and Briefings provided on the Member Area of the AoC website.

All Governors are encouraged to secure direct access to the Member Area and receive notification of Briefings.

If you have a College email address this can be done directly on the AoC website by following the Apply for access tab at the top of the home page.

For most Governors who do not have College-based email addresses, we have set up alternative arrangements with your Clerk, for them to collect and submit to us Governors’ own private email addresses.  AoC will then place a College identifier against each Governor’s name. This alternative arrangement will also provide full access to the Member Area as well as providing notification of new and updated Governors’ Briefings.

A further option we are trialling is for Governors who want to register to contact us directly by email marking their emails “Governor” and providing their:

  • Name
  • College
  • Email address
  • Type of Governor: namely independent, student or staff governor

We are also looking to offer this individual registration option for Governors who attend the Annual Conference. Any Governor who is registered in this way may at any time expand their own access to and notification of other specialist Briefing material that is provided within the AoC Member Area of the website. This facility is provided on our website.

The Governors’ Council recognises that in some Colleges Governors have opted to receive copies of the Governors’ Briefing through their Clerk. The Council  encourages Governors and Clerks to look at the Governors’ Briefings that they are receiving and move over to direct registration. This saves work for the Clerk and will provide Governors with the access to hyperlinks to explanations and more information that can be provided through electronic access.
