1    AoC Beacon Awards 2007-2008

The project profiles for the winners of the 2007-2008 AoC Beacon Awards are now available on the AoC website.  These profiles are based on the college's original application form, the assessors' report and a follow-up form which  the winning college completes, outlining what developments there have been since the announcement and how it has used the Award money.

The purpose of these profiles is to give the sector an overview of the winning initiatives so that individual colleges can replicate the projects or modify existing provision to benefit its learners.  The profiles are also useful for colleges wanting to see the sort of information included in an application and can be used as a guide when completing future applications for the Awards.

Please follow this link to see a list of all of the profiles.

2    AoC Beacon Awards 2008-2009

The winners of the AoC Beacon Awards 2008-2009 Programme attended an extremely successful National Presentation Ceremony in Westminster last week.  Sion Simon MP, Minister of State for Further Education, presented the representatives from the winning colleges with their certificates.  Giles Long MBE, President of the AoC Charitable Trust, also announced and presented one of the winning colleges with the fifth annual President's Award.  This year, the Award was given to City College Norwich for its RUGROOM project which provides support for students with a wide range of autistic spectrum disorders.  The College was the winner of the AoC Award for Widening Participation.

The colleges each provided a short profile on their winning projects which were collated into a single document which was available on the day for all guests to have a greater understanding of the range of the initiatives represented at the event.  The short profiles can be found here   Short profiles 2008-09

3    AoC Beacon Awards 2009-2010

Work is currently underway with the sponsors of the AoC Beacon Awards to put together the Prospectus for the 2009-2010 Programme.  It is hoped to send out hard copies at the beginning of April and for an on-line version to be available on the AoC website at the same time.  Those individuals nominated as Beacon Awards Liaison Officers will automatically receive notification when the Prospectus is ready.
