AoC Beacon Awards 'Celebrating Colleges'
Around 180 guests were present at the launch of "Celebrating Colleges" on Wednesday 9 July at the House of Commons. The Rt Hon David Blunkett MP hosted the event which was attended by staff and students from AoC Beacon Award winning colleges, around 60 MPs and Peers, sponsors, assessors and representatives from sector partner organisations. Joining David Blunkett on the platform was Dame Patricia Morgan-Webb, Chair of the AoC Beacon Awards, the Rt Hon John Denham MP, Secretary of State for Innovation Universities and Skills and Marting Doel, the Chief Executive of the AoC. The Rt Hon Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, was also in attendance and he and John Denham were able to spend time talking to the college representatives and students.

All colleges should have received the AoC Beacon Awards 2008-09 Prospectus. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 23 July 2008, so there are just two weeks to get together your application and supporting evidence.
