AoC Beacon Awards 2008-2009 Programme

Chief Executives, Chairs, Clerks, Curriculum Managers, Quality Managers

Linked to this Briefing is a copy of the new   Beacon Awards Prospectus 2008/09. A complete list of the Awards appears on the front page.

We are delighted that following on from the ongoing success of last year’s programme, the overwhelming majority of those Awards are available again. We also welcome two new Awards: the OCR Award for Functional Skills, and the Make Your Mark Award for Enterprise.

In addition to these new Awards, several of the existing sponsors have also changed the focus of their Awards, so it is worthwhile having a look at all of them to see if there are new categories this year that your college may wish to apply for. The monetary value of the majority of the Awards remains between, on average, £4,000 and £5,000.

Continuing with the layout of last year, the contents page for the Awards on page 9 of the prospectus has the Awards grouped in ‘like’ Awards. This has been done to assist colleges in making their decisions about which Awards it would be most suitable for them to apply for. A summary of this list appears below [those Awards that are asterisked indicate new Awards or Awards that have changed from last year]:
