AoC Student Photography Competition 2011 Finalists

AoC Student Photography Competition 2011

The third AoC Student Photography Competition was launched this September, the response was overwhelming. We received over 500 photographs from over 330 students across the country. The standard of photographs this year was very high, our judge David Weston found it extremely difficult to pick three winners.

The winners were announced at the AoC Annual Conference Gala Dinner on 16 November by John Bingham, AoC Chair. Please find the winning entries below:

1st Prize Lauren Clarke_Brockenhurst College_my favourite subject
Lauren Clarke
Brockenhurst College

Judges comment:

Love the composition/ framing of the image. The way the photographer captured the moment, and the contrast of the black & white image.

2nd Prize RyanBradley_StratfordCollege_MySubject
Ryan Bradley
Stratford-upon-Avon College

Judges comments:

Love the way this is framed, the way it is lit using side lighting, the red steps to give the photograph a bold colour and the way that the steps lead you into the photograph.

3rd Prize Oliver Wilks_Collyers College_My Journey to College

Oliver wilks
College of Richard Collyer

Judges comments:
Nice use of space, like the way that one of the feet is perched up. This keeps your eye in the photo. Like the narrow use of depth of field, this again helps draw your attention on the subject in the photograph.

The three highly commended photographs are:

Ashley Knowles, West Hertfordshire College_MyFavouriteSubject  Ashley Knowles, West Hertfordshire College

BethanyRivers_CityCollegeCoventry_My Journey To College  Bethany Rivers, City College Coventry

Lewis Bench, City College Coventry_MyJourneyToCollege  Lewis Bench, City College Coventry

Congratulations to all our finalists.
