Colleges face several major funding reforms in 2013 including new formulae from both the Education and Skills Funding Agencies, a new system of Further Education Loans and a new role for Councils in funding students with learning difficulties. This conference provides a round-up of the latest issues, will provide new insight into the issues driving the changes and will help you plan for next year.

This conference runs from 10am to 3.45pm and covers a wide range of subjects including:

  • Latest information on the 16-18 funding formula changes which will be put into effect by the Education Funding Agency in 2013
  • An update on the new Skills funding formula from the agency’s funding team
  • A session from AoC’s Julian Gravatt challenges of further education loan system
  • A round-up of the changes to the funding for students with learning difficulties which promises to transfer control of significant funds currently allocated to each College to Councils
  • Tips from Mark Emmerson, the author of the LIS Companion software, on how to model the funding changes using the Individual Learner Record
  • A closing session from an experienced principal, John Callaghan, who is a member of both the EFA and SFA technical groups

There will be several twists and turns in the funding of Colleges between now and 2013. Some things will not yet be certain in early October because they will be contained in the Skills Investment Strategy due to be published at AoC’s Annual Conference in mid November. Nevertheless we know enough about the outline of the changes planned for 2013-14 to know that this will be the biggest upheaval in the rules and calculations associated with College income for at least a decade.

The purpose of this one-day conference is therefore:

  • To ensure you understand the scale of the changes planned for 2013-14
  • To help you plan for their introduction
  • To share knowledge and experience with other delegates

There is a £50 early bird discount for AoC members who book by Friday 14 September.

AoC is also running a series of free-to-attend events specifically on the 16-19 Study Programmes. There are nine events taking place across England between 25th September and 16th October. Details are available here
