Please visit www.londoncolleges.com for further details of AoC London's member colleges. AoC London is a professional membership organisation representing 53 post-16 learning and training institutions and their Principals and Chairs of Governors across the London area. These include: 36 Further Education Colleges, 12 Sixth-Form Colleges and 5 Specialist Centres. Our aim is to promote awareness of the Further Education sector and educational and skills training opportunities the sector offers for Londoners over the age of 16, by fostering partnerships, collaboration between further education colleges, business, higher education, government and the wider community. The London Region includes all of the Greater London area - home to 7.2+ million people. With 1 Londoner in 9 engaged in some form of post-school study, further and adult education plays a significant role in shaping London's economy by contributing to the skills and knowledge base of the capital. The 53 colleges have over 30,000 members of staff. There are over half a million further education students in London representing an incredibly diverse population. Over 50% of students at London's FE colleges belong to Black or Minority Ethnic Groups. Nearly 60% of students are women. The age profile breakdown of student intake shows that about 75% percent of students are aged over 19, of which more than a quarter are in the 25-34 age band. Nearly one fifth is aged 45+. Over two thirds of students attend courses on a part-time basis as they are either employed or in need of further skills during their job search.
