Working with Unemployed People Conference
Thursday 8 March 2012
Prospero House, London
www.aoccreateevents.co.uk/workingwithunemployed
With 2.6 million people out of work, including over a million young people, Colleges are working harder than ever to give people the skills they need to find a job and Colleges are showing real flexibility and initiative. Their links with employers mean that those they put forward are ready to work.
But vital to the success of any of the programmes is a good relationship with Jobcentre Plus (JCP). The more Colleges and Job Centres work together to share information, develop personal solutions and work with employers, the more we can tackle the scourge of unemployment.
This conference will allow delegates the chance to gain up to date policy advice on how Colleges can better support unemployed people, it will allow delegates to hear from JCP and contribute to discussions on how they can work more effectively together. Finally based on a report by AoC launched at the end of January delegates will be able to hear case studies from other Colleges and share best practice.
Whs should you attend this conference?
• An opportunity for Colleges to hear from Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, DWP about updates to policy, which will help them to support unemployed people
• Chance to discuss with JCP about how Colleges and JCP can work more effectively together
• Colleges will be able to share best practice with other colleagues around the UK
• Debate how Colleges can engage better with Primes
• Find out ways in which Colleges can help get the employable employed after the Work Programme
• Discuss report published by AoC at the end of Jan 2012 ‘Back to Work: Colleges Supporting Sustainable Jobs’
