Managing Change, Restructures & Redundancies

Wednesday 15 February 2012 | Birmingham
Thursday 23 February 2012 | London

This one day seminar is designed to clarify some of the employment law issues that arise in seeking to introduce changes in the workforce - whether that be a change in terms of conditions, a restructuring exercise or large-scale redundancies.

In a highly participative and interactive session, delegates will explore how flexibilities in the contract of employment can best be used, and how contracts can be changed when that flexibility is not available. The seminar will also deal with both individual and collective redundancies, looking at how the law of unfair dismissal impacts on the redundancy selection process and also the key issue of collective consultation where large-scale redundancies or contractual changes are proposed.

Objectives of the day

  • To help delegates understand the employment law framework surrounding major change and restructuring iniatives, including the law in relation to redundancy
  • To help delegates plan how they can best implement workforce change in their organisation fairly and within the law

What will I get out of it?

  • A clear understanding of the employment law implications of introducing major change
  • The confidence to manage major change programmes in a way that meets the needs of the organisation while effectively managing the legal risk
  • An understanding of the requirements of a fair redundancy dismissal
  • A strategy for carrying out collective consultations when large scale redundancies are being proposed

Who should attend?

  • HR Directors, managers, business partners and advisors
  • Principals, Vice-Principals and senior line managers with responsibility for implementing major change
