The Midland Studio School

Salary: in the region of £80,000 p.a.

North Warwickshire and Hinckley College is currently leading on the development of the Midland Studio College in Hinckley, an exciting new studio school for students of years 10 to 13, which will connect education with employment. Graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, the College is one of the largest providers of further education in the Midlands, serving over 20,000 learners.  Studio schools differ from traditional education in one very important way; they are designed to help young people achieve academic qualifi cations whilst gaining the skills required to succeed in work.  They offer continual work experience from years 10 to 13 and give young people a head start on being ready for work. They also use personal coaching and small classes to help young people achieve their full potential.

The vision for The Midland Studio College is that it will be a fast track route into employment and a strong foundation for a successful career. Offering excellent learning and teaching, one to one coaching, real work experience and the development of core personal skills, including communication and teamwork. Students will leave the school confi dent and with a sense of purpose.  The ethos of The Midland Studio College will centre on being professional and adopting a strong work ethic. Students of all abilities and backgrounds will be welcome at The Midland Studio College, which will be a small school with a total of 300 students when full.

Scheduled to open in September 2012, the successful candidate will take up their post at Easter of 2012. We are looking for an individual who is a dynamic self starter, excited by the prospect of shaping and delivering the strategy for this fresh educational concept, appointing a brand new team and ensuring a robust and creative curriculum offering will be in place for all learners. We also have plans to open an additional studio school in September 2013, under The Midland Studio College banner, based in Nuneaton and for an additional 300 students.

Having established each of the Studio Colleges, the Executive Principal will then be responsible for providing inspirational leadership, strategic direction and working with key stakeholders. They will ensure an acute focus on employability and employer relationships, whilst achieving a high level of academic student attainment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an impressive track record in delivering high quality results, within new, complex and challenging environments. You may already be established at this level or be an aspiring leader seeking your first Principal appointment. Either way you’ll have a learner centred approach which focuses on employability.
