WorldSkills London 2011 - College learners receive medals

The WorldSkills 2011 event in London came to a close on Sunday evening with a high profile closing ceremony at the O2 arena and the awarding of the medals to skills learners from over 50 countries. The UK team won 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 6 Bronze in total. Many of those young people were/are being trained in AoC Member Colleges - see the results below. Anyone who was able to attend the event will have recognised the College demonstrations and contributions as particularly impressive. Well done to all involved.

Gold medal winners:

Cookery - Westminster Kingsway College

Stonemasonry - City of Bath College

Bricklaying - Belfast Metropolitan College

Visual Merchandising - East Berkshire College

Silver medal winners:

Autobody Repair - Leicester College

Landscape Gardening - Askham Bryan College

Bronze medal winners:

Joinery - Oxford and Cherwell Valley College

Refrigeration - South Eastern Regional College, Co. Down
