A national review of negotiations by AoC shows ongoing support from members for the service.
125 Colleges were surveyed for the AoC national review – representing 46% of all Colleges in England on whose behalf AoC negotiates.
Results of the review include:
• 88% of respondents to the survey strongly agreed or agreed that the national recommendation is useful as a benchmark.
• 81.6% of respondents strongly agreed or agreed that the sector benefits from having a national pay recommendation.
• 96.8% of respondents agreed that guidance on employment issues and a national pay recommendation are preferable to nationally binding agreements and awards.
• 87.2% of respondents find the joint agreements on guidance on employment issues useful and 74.2% reported that they would be concerned about losing this resource.
The survey follows a recommendation of the strategic review of 2007, during which 64% of College Principals and 90% of Chairs of Governors said they wanted AoC's negotiations work to continue.
