The AoC International Charter:

The AoC International Charter is a kite mark for those Colleges which have made a commitment to quality assuring and taking an ethical approach to all areas of their international activity and to making the global agenda an ‘agenda for all’ – staff, students and the local communities served by the College. The Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the British Council and UKCISA have expressed their support for the Charter and AoC will work closely with these and other national bodies to achieve its international recognition.

The AoC International Charter recognises that Colleges are involved in a variety of international activities, both as part of their business development planning and with the aim of equipping students, staff and local communities to meet the opportunities and challenges presented by the impact of global forces on their lives. The Charter framework aims to be a vehicle for:

• Benchmarking and quality improvement
• Strategic planning
• Capacity-building and peer support

Special benefit for early subscribers: a free place on Globalising the College,  a professional development programme which will be held in London on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 March (please note that, places on the programme are limited).

This pilot programme has been specially developed by the Institute of Education's (IoE) Development Education Research Centre for AoC Charter Colleges and is sponsored by LSIS. The programme will:

• Provide a guidance and support mechanism for planning and implementation of ‘Globalisation of the College’
• Enable participants to explore and test concepts and ideas via peer appraisal and to lay a foundation for sustainable peer networks
• Assist participants in preparing their colleges for AoC International Charter assessment

One night’s accommodation in London will be provided.
