Association of Colleges

All Party FE Group

All Party Groups are informal groups established by backbench MPs in order for them to become better informed about a particular policy area. They have no statutory or formal role however they are able to exert some influence on Government.

The APPG for Further Education and Lifelong Learning is jointly chaired by:

• John Penrose MP (Con, Weston-Super-Mare) 
• Kelvin Hopkins MP (Lab, Luton North).

Both John and Kelvin are Governors of their local Colleges.

The other Officers are as follows:

• Vice-Chair: Stephen Williams MP (Lib Dem, Bristol West), Gordon Marsden MP (Lab, Blackpool South) 
• Secretary: Khalid Mahmood MP (Lab, Birmingham Perry Barr) 
• Treasurer: Angela Smith MP (Lab, Sheffield Hillsborough)

The Group has been running for over 10 years and meets regularly in the House of Commons.
