Interim Director of Learning & Quality – North West

The key deliverables for this role are as follows:

To lead the development of the highest standards of teaching and learning by:

  • Establishing a culture of high expectations of students and staff
  • Promoting and overseeing the implementation of personalised learning so as to support all learners to achieve their potential
  • Working to widen participation by minimising barriers to access and ensuring that all learners receive support appropriate to their needs
  • Ensuring the continued development of the use of e-learning technologies to strengthen and enhance delivery
  • Overseeing the College’s teaching and learning observations and its professional coaching and mentoring programmes to achieve continuous improvement in teaching and learning
  • Working with the Director of Customer Services and HR to plan and coordinate the continuing professional development of academic and academic support staff

To lead the development of a curriculum which reflects national education and training priorities and the learning /training needs of employers, individuals and the community by:

  • Regularly reviewing the curriculum portfolio in the light of learner and labour market intelligence
  • Promoting and supporting innovative curriculum development designed to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of the College’s higher education portfolio
  • Liaising with partner organisations on curriculum matters
  • Liaising with external curriculum and awarding bodies

To lead the quality assurance process across the College to ensure the highest standards of client satisfaction and maintain the College’s Ofsted Outstanding status by:

  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensuring that quality assurance processes are effectively implemented and impact positively on all aspects of College performance
  • Managing the work of the Curriculum Performance Unit
  • Regularly reviewing and evaluating the College’s quality assurance processes to ensure that they are effective and reflect best practice
  • Coordinating the production and validation of the College’s annual Self Assessment Report and action plan
  • Acting as College Nominee for all external inspections and coordinating activities for the Annual Assessment Visit


To be considered for this exciting and challenging opportunity you must be able to demonstrate the following as a minimum requirement:

  • Educated to degree standard and holding a teaching qualification to current national standards.  A higher degree, though not essential, will be an advantage
  • Possess a management qualification and/or demonstrate evidence of substantial and successful management practice in a Further Education environment
  • Have significant and successful experience of teaching and learning in Further Education colleges
  • Have a proven record in the management of change, including leadership and innovation in teaching, learning and curriculum
  • Be able to demonstrate success in implementing Further Education quality systems and raising standards
  • Be able to demonstrate competence in the efficient management of the curriculum, budgets and resources
  • Possess excellent knowledge of post-16 education and training, and of recent and planned educational policy and its implications for FE

Interim Vice Principal (Finance & Accommodation) - London

Assuming management responsibility for the Director of Finance and the Head of College Facilities this pivotal role will require you to deliver immediate results across the following areas:

 

  • Financial Planning
  • Develop and implement a financial strategy for the College
  • Develop and manage College financial and management accounting systems and controls to meet the requirements of financial regulations
  • Plan, monitor and control the College annual budget
  • Work with external professional advisers to ensure compliance with accounting, audit, taxation, insurance and legal requirements
  • Advise on and deliver a future structure of the finance function within the College

 

Financial Management:

  • Adhere to all the College’s financial regulations and ensure that all goals are achieved within financial constraints
  • Ensure that all activities represent value for money 

Accommodation and Facilities:

  • Support the delivery of the College’s accommodation strategy
  • Assure the security and safety of students, staff and premises
  • Manage the premises service

To be considered for this exciting and challenging opportunity you must be able to demonstrate the following as a minimum requirement:

  • A relevant Degree and/or an equivalent professional qualification
  • Evidence of significant continuous professional and management development
  • Extensive experience of effective leadership, management and consistent achievement as a middle/senior manager of corporate services in an educational or appropriate context

  • Evidence of extensive current knowledge of financial and accounting legislation and procedures

Interim Additional Learning Support Manager - Midlands

The Additional Learning Support team provides a range of integrated, responsive and student centred support services for learners who have a learning difficulty or disability, including those who need Literacy or Numeracy support, to enable them to access the educational opportunities offered by the College. The ALS Manager will develop and lead a centrally managed Additional Learning Support Team, which assesses and meets the needs of learners, and supports effective curriculum management and delivery.
 
The main duties and responsibilities of the post are as follows:
 
  • As part of the Learner Support management team, contribute to the development and successful delivery of an annual business plan
  • Lead and manage the Additional Learning Support team, ensuring that staff are managed trained, and motivated to meet the objectives and priorities of the College
  • Develop and embed quality standards and service level agreements for Additional Learning Support, ensuring these are maintained and the effectiveness monitored and reviewed
  • Manage a comprehensive diagnostic and assessment service for learners, in order to identify how learning needs can be effectively supported
  • Develop and manage the Additional Learning Support services, to provide services which fully meet the needs of learners
  • Manage the deployment of staff and physical resources flexibly and efficiently, to ensure all aspects of service are effectively covered on each campus
  • Promote and facilitate awareness of Additional Learning Support throughout the College, to ensure it is fully integrated into the curriculum
  • Develop innovative approaches to curriculum and service delivery, to facilitate accessibility and inclusivity, and increase student achievement
  • Contribute to the development of College strategies, and provide expert advice to managers on national and regional initiatives, in order to embed good practice across the College
  • Monitor income and expenditure targets, taking timely corrective action as appropriate to ensure agreed financial targets are achieved and College Financial Regulations are met
  • Manage all aspects of the resources allocated to Additional Learning Support within an agreed budget to ensure value for money
