Observing Teaching and Learning the Inspectors' way
Location: Leeds - The Met
This course focuses on the importance of the observation of teaching and learning in relation to the latest Common Inspection Framework (CIF) and the latest cycle of Ofsted inspections which commenced in autumn 2009. It will help colleges to understand what they should observe and what they should judge beyond the core activity of classroom teaching. .
Objectives of the day
- To understand the role of observations of teaching and learning with current Ofsted inspection
- To identify how observation of teaching and learning can identify learner outcomes, safeguarding and equality and diversity issues
- To define excellence in teaching and learning
- To review approaches to improving teaching and learning
What will I get out of it?
- A better understanding of the observation of teaching and learning in relation to the 2009 Common Inspection Framework.
- Practice in identifying outcomes for learners, safeguarding issues, and equality and diversity during observations of teaching and learning.
- An understanding of what represents excellence in teaching and learning.
- Tools and techniques to support the analysis of observation grades, moderation and links to improving retention and success
